David Muir is an American journalist and anchor for ABC News which is the news division of the ABC broadcast-television network based in New York City, New York. He was born on November 8, 1973 and belongs to white ethnicity. He joined ABC News at the age of 29. He has travelled throughout the world to bring contemporary stories.
Muir went to Onondaga Junior-Senior High School in Nedrow, a suburb of Syracuse, New York and graduated in May 1991 at the age of 17. After that, he went to Ithaca College, New York and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelors of Arts in 1995 at 21 years age. He then attended Institute on Political Journalism at “The Fund for American Studies”, affiliated with Georgetown University in Washington D.C.. He studied at the University of Salamanca in Salamanca, Spain too.
Muir worked as an anchor and reporter at WTVH television in Syracuse, his own hometown, from 1995-2000. There he filed reports from Jerusalem, Tel Aviv (Israel), Gaza Strip following the 1995 assassination of the Prime Minister of Israel, Yitzhak Rabin. He gained high honors from the “Radio-Television News Directors Association” for his reports. He was honored for Best Enterprise Reporting and Best Television Interview by “The Associated Press”. He was recognized as anchor of the “Best Local Newscast” by the Syracuse Press Club and was even voted as one of Syracuse’s “Best Local News Anchors.”
Muir then worked at WCVB television in Boston Massachusetts, he won honors like the regional Edward R. Murrow Award” for investigative reporting and the National Headliner Award and Associated Press honors him for tracing the path of the hijackers involved in September 11, 2001 attacks. Muir joined ABC News as anchor of the overnight news program “World News Now” at 29 years age. He was a co-anchor of Primetime and anchor of ABC World News. Besides, he reported for all ABC news broadcasts: 20/20, ABC World News, Good Morning America and Nightline and hence was promoted to anchor both weekend newcasts. The broadcast was named “World News with David Muir.” He was also promoted to co-host 20/20 alongside Elizabeth Vargas. Muir is known as the number one correspondent to achieve most time in both 2011 and 2012.
Speaking about his personal life, he doesn’t have a girlfriend or a wife as he is not married. He has maintained his life in a very low profile and so his marital status is not clearly stated in any of his official bio. Some sites rumor that he is a gay and has boyfriend as a partner but that is not true.
